  • Designing the product or designing for repeat behaviour

The treadmill is a great example of making this point. Is your value proposition designed to sell the product (treadmills for home use) or designed to solve the underlying problem and create repeated use of your product?

The problem a treadmill solves is not access to running (you can do that literally everywhere); it’s the underlying motivation of actually going for a run. If you want customers to become repeat customers (and real fans who refer your product), design accordingly.

  • The Automotive Business Model Battle

Interesting article (a long read) on why electric is winning the drivetrain technology war. Lessons include:

    • The business model is the unit of analysis, NOT the technology
    • The customer job is not the underlying technology
    • First to scale (tipping the customer adoption and supplier learning curves) is the success measure

  • Test essay with featured image

    Test essay with featured image

Just typing something to test whether the new site design renders properly when I add the image as well as a few paragraphs of text. Don’t read this, it is nonsense but should look like actual text that is worth reading.

I specifically1 did not copy-paste the lorem ipsum text because well, because. Do you actually think that looks like the real deal when included in my in-progress design? I don’t and that’s why I will be typing something that really makes no sense at all. Except for the looks of this text then. This is supposed to be a bit longer paragraph because in real life paragraphs never look the same length.

Also curious about how much text will actually be included in the homepage design? We’ll see and find out but this is as much as I’m going to type.

    1. Specifically – well, wanted to specifically test a footnote on this position. See what it does in the margin as well as endnote on mobile. ↩︎

I love taking drone photos but I really need to get better

  • Test post note 2

Just testing a simple note, a few lines of text. Don’t read this, this is for testing purposes and will be removed once I’ve iterated this design to the basic level that I’m ok with.

Yes I suffer from overthinking. Daniel Pink just gave us overthinkers a way to break the habit: 24 hours no complaining allowed. Watch the video to know why.
